We have been using Vipre Internet Security and Vipre Anti Virus products since they were first released on the market and we can definitely recommend them highly if you are looking for an efficient anti virus product that does not slow your computer down or hog all of your system resources.

Vipre has a very intuitive interface that is well laid out and easy to use. There are three different scan settings – Quick Scan(Checks for risks in common locations), Deep Scan(an in depth scan of your whole computer) and Custom Scan(Scans specific files, folders or registry keys). You can also set it to shut down your computer upon completion of a scan.

Vipre Internet Security has a built in Firewall which is very highly configurable, forget about Windows Firewall this is a proper firewall with advanced filtering settings and a Hosts Intrusion Prevention System for more advanced users.

There is a great new feature that has been added to Vipre recently called Easy Update. This feature scans your computer for important software updates for non-Microsoft applications installed on your computer and will download and automatically install the updates for you! Many times computers get compromised via outdated software versions so this adds another layer of protection for your computer against malware and viruses. Easy Update scans your computer daily for available software updates by default but you can choose how often it does if you like.

Vipre has a feature called Active Protection which monitors your PC in real time for potential risks and blocks them before they can infect your computer. There is also built in email protection which scans all incoming emails for Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail or Thunderbird.

By default Vipre automatically checks for updates to its virus threat definitions hourly but we change this setting to twice daily. There are a number of preset time intervals you can choose from or you can manually enter one.
